WAR OF THE WORLDS! Kingdoms in conflict

"I will sing to the LORD,
for he is highly exalted.
The horse and its rider

Welcome!
Lighthouse Church is located in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. We meet in the cinema at the Slipway Centre on Msasani Peninsular just north of the city centre. Our meeting starts at 09h30 on a Sunday morning. We also meet on Thursday evenings for corporate prayer, please contact us for directions and timing or any other queries you may have. lighthouse@darchurch.org

Lighthouse Church was planted in August 2006 by Andrew and Angela Cochrane along with their two daughters Jess and Meg, out of New Covenant Church Nelspruit in South Africa.
As a church, we relate to New Covenant Ministries International (NCMI - http://ncmi.net/), which is an apostolic-prophetic team working around the world with autonomous local churches to equip and prepare the local church for the work of ministry (Eph 4:11-13).

What We Believe

The Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments in their original writings are fully inspired by God, and we accept them as the final authority for faith and life. (2 Timothy 3:16)

God is one God eternally existing in three persons - Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19)

The Lord Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, and is true God and true Man. (Matthew 1:20-23)

God created man in His own image: man sinned and thereby incurred the penalty of death, physical and spiritual; and all human beings inherit a sinful nature, which issues in actual transgression involving personal guilt. (Genesis 1:27; Romans 5:12)

The Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins, a substitutionary sacrifice, according to the Scriptures, and all who believe and trust in Him are justified on the ground of His shed blood. (1 Corinthians 15:3; Romans 10:9)

Our Lord Jesus Christ was bodily resurrected from the grave, He ascended into heaven, and He presently lives as our High Priest and Advocate. (Acts 2:24; Ephesians 1:20; Hebrews 7:25-26)

The Lord Jesus Christ will return personally. (Acts 1:11)

The Holy Spirit is a personality, His is the work of regenerating, and His presence abides the true believer. (John 6:63-65)

All who repent of their sins and receive the Lord Jesus Christ by faith are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby become children of God. (Mark 1:15; John 1:12)

All Christians are called to a life of holiness, devotion to the Lord Jesus Christ and service to Him. (1 Peter 1:13-16; Romans 12:1,2)

Both the just and the unjust will experience resurrection, the redeemed to eternal blessedness and those who have rejected the offer of salvation to eternal banishment from God. (Revelation 20:11-15)

The whole company of those who have accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as their Saviour, have been redeemed by Him and regenerated by the Holy Spirit and form the one true Church, and the local church on earth should take its character from this concept. Therefore the new birth and personal confession of faith in Christ are essentials of church membership. (Hebrews 12:22-24; John 3:3; Acts 2:47)

The Holy Spirit indwells all true believers and He has been sent to be the Comforter and Empowerer of the Christian Church, to produce the fruit of the Holy Spirit and the gifts of the Holy Spirit according to the Scriptures. (John 14:16-17, 26; 16:8; Acts 1:8; Galatians 5:22; 1 Corinthians 12:4)

One of the works of Jesus is to baptize true believers in the Holy Spirit and believers are to be continually filled with the Holy Spirit. ( Mark 1:8; Ephesians 5:18)

All believers are part of the priesthood of the Kingdom of God. (1 Peter 2:9)

The Lord Jesus Christ appointed two ordinances - Baptism and the Lord's Table - to be observed as acts of obedience and as a perpetual witness to the cardinal facts of the Christian faith; baptism is the immersion of the believer in water as a confession of identification with Christ in burial and resurrection, and the Lord's Table involves partaking of the bread and the cup as symbols of the Saviour's broken body and shed blood, in remembrance of His sacrificial death till His return. (Matthew 28:19; Luke 22:19-20)

The healing of the sick is still available in our day. (Mark 16:16 - 8; Matthew 8:6; 17; 1 Corinthians 12:9 and James 5:14 -15).
God never removed the gifts of the Holy Spirit from the Church, and the Scriptural commands to "seek earnestly the best gifts", and to "forbid not to speak in tongues", are still applicable today. (1 Corinthians 12-14 ... Note 1 Corinthians 14:1; 39).

The ascended Christ has given various ministries or ministers to the Church in order to bring all believers to the place of Christian maturity in understanding of truth, and the performance and function of the ministry. (Ephesians 4 :11; Romans 12:4 - 8 and 1 Corinthians 12:10 following).

The miracles as recorded in the Bible were real miracles, and are possible in the present day. (John 14:12 , 1 Corinthians 12:10).
